What is Systematic Fire Protection Work?
Systematic Fire Protection Work is required by law in Sweden under the Accident Protection Act. Those conducting business or owning a property are legally obligated to carry out controlls and reports. Apart from providing fire extinguishing equipment and updated evacuation plans, they must also take necessary measures to prevent, inhibit, and limit damages caused by fire. These measures can be both technical and organizational in nature. Fire protection inventory is also included in systematic fire protection work.
Self-inspections of fire protection with documentation
Four times a year, self-inspections of all functions related to fire protection within a property must be conducted. This includes reviewing evacuation plans, smoke detectors, evacuation routes, and fire extinguishers. Each inspection must be carefully documented, and the documentation should be submitted for an annual review to the Fire Department.
Systematic fire protection work should be actively conducted. This should be ongoing and a “living” process.
